Movie Night Gift Box

I made this box as our end of the year teacher gifts back in 2018 but realized this gift is probably even more desirable during a pandemic since movie theaters are still closed. Consider making one of these for a friend, family member or teacher! This is one of my favorite gifts because we made it extra special by recording Zach saying “thank you” to his teachers (along with a short slideshow) and provided a link to view it. I called it a “Live-Action Short” that they could watch before their movie of choice.

Below is a list of contents and how to make your own box.

Some of the links below are affiliate links. That means if you click on them and buy the item, I get a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps offset the cost of running this blog.

MOVIE BOX CONTENTS

  • Uline Box: I use Uline boxes for everything. They ship super fast and though you have to order usually a minimum of 50, its worth it for me to have a bunch of them around because I do these sorts of gift boxes all the time. The particular one I used for this movie night box is S-3179 which has interior dimensions of 9 x 6 1/2 x 2 3/4″.
  • Movie Theater Candy: M&Ms and Whoppers are available for a great price on Amazon if you don’t want to go into a store to purchase! Of course you could buy regular candy that comes in bags, but it’s more fun to open your gift and see those iconic movie candy boxes inside.
  • Microwavable popcorn: Get the kind that says “movie theater butter” on the package for a more authentic experience 🙂
  • Mini soda: Any flavor you like (I got Coke and Sprite), but get the mini cans so they fit inside your box better.
  • Oreo duo-pack: They don’t sell Oreos at movie theaters but I wanted to add more snacks in the box to fill it out. Same with the pack of nuts I included in the box too. You could always just add more candy or another packet of popcorn!
  • Amazon gift card: I included an Amazon gift card to rent a video, or the recipient could just use the Amazon card to buy whatever they wanted to. I like ordering Amazon gift cards from Amazon directly because I can pick the amount that’s on the card. If you don’t have time to order online, you can get them at your local supermarket (but supermarkets have limited selection on gift card amounts). Or you can get an amazon e-gift card and print it and put it in your box!

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Line your box with black paper: not totally necessary but it adds to the wow factor when opening the box

2. Make a label for the inside top flap: I bought some clip art instead of designing my own since it was much much faster to do it that way, and you know me and waiting til the last minute to make gifts (haha). I wrote some instructions just for fun, and included a link to the special video we made for the teachers.

I printed out the label on photo paper and then glue it to the top inside flap of the box

3. Fill the box with your goodies! If there’s excess space you could fill the box with crinkle paper or Easter grass so the items don’t move around.

4. Make a label for the front of the box: I made each box custom for each teacher and included a screenshot of them on the inner label so I had to also create a custom label for the front so I would know which box was for which teacher.

Who wouldn’t want this awesome box of movie snacks and an Amazon card?? Make one for someone this year and brighten their day!
