Pandemic Survival Kit

At the end of the 2019-2020 school year I was trying to figure out what gift to give our teachers and specialists. I like practical gifts and the only thing I could think of gifting was Clorox wipes and toilet paper since those were the coveted items in the spring of 2020. And so I came up with the idea of making a pandemic survival kit. I’ve made many variations of survival kits as gifts since I love giving practical gifts that can be used up and not just sit around collecting dust.

Here’s what I included in the “kit”:

Travel Toilet Paper: I got “Toilet Tissue To-Go” off Amazon and it was perfect for the kit.

Clorox Wipes: It was REALLY hard to find the travel Clorox wipes online (I didn’t want to go to a store). I ended up finding them on Target.com but there was a limit of 1 per order, and it would only ship with orders of $25 or more. I had to place 6 separate orders and add on a $25 gift card to each. Which is fine because I was able to give away the Target gift cards for birthday presents throughout the year.

Germ-X mini hand sanitizer: It was impossible to get Purell hand sanitizer but I was able to find Germ-X online at Office Depot. Now it’s easier to find travel sized hand sanitizer.

M&Ms: Again, chocolate is necessary for any emergency situation

Active Dry Yeast: Another commodity that was so hard to find back in the Spring of 2020! I happened upon some on Amazon and quickly bought it before it sold out. Now its widely available and you won’t be price gouged.

Nitrile Gloves: These are still hard to find at pre-pandemic prices. I was able to score some pink ones on Amazon for a fair price but if you look now, prices are still way higher than normal.

Custom cotton face mask: I bought these Tultex pleated face masks and Cricut-ed out a design with the school’s name on it. Not sure if anyone is actually wearing it, but I thought it was a nice custom touch 🙂
